Automatic Policy Refinement Using OWL-S and Semantic Infrastructure Information

چکیده
Network management requires a lot of manual work. Due to ongoing growth of the Internet, more self-management is needed in order to deal with the growing complexity. Autonomic communication systems address this issue. Often, they make use of policy-based management systems. Policy-based management is an approach to simplify management by the use of rules. Policy refinement, i.e. breaking down high-level policies to technical configurations is still a task that needs a significant amount of manual work. We propose SEMPR, an architecture that uses Web services and automatic Web services composition as a complementary technique to policy refinement in order to automate policy-based management. Semantic Web services, described in OWL-S, as well as policies make use of our simple network ontology NINO. We show the application of our work in a Home Area Network (HAN) environment and give an outlook on future research challenges.

Ontology-Based Policy Refinement Using SWRL Rules for Management Information Definitions in OWL
The goal of ontology-based management is to improve the manageability of network resources through the application of formal ontologies. Prior research work has studied their application to represent the management information definitions, the mapping and merging processes to obtain a semantic integration of those definitions, and the representation of behaviour and policy definitions. Using on...
متن کاملAn Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)
Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...
متن کاملApplying CommonKADS and Semantic Web Technologies to Ontology-Based E-Government Knowledge Systems
Government agencies are the largest owners of knowledge assets such as regulations, documents, forms. To build a knowledge-based system (KBS) for e-government has proved to be an effective way to enhance the efficiency of handling governmental services. However, few efforts are made to address automatic reasoning of knowledge-intensive tasks within e-government processes. For this purpose, we p...
متن کاملMoving from syntactic to semantic organizations using JXML2OWL
Today’s enterprises face critical needs in integrating disparate information spread over several data sources inside and even outside the organization. Most organizations already rely on XML standard to define their data models. Unfortunately, even when using XML to represent data, problems arise when it is necessary to integrate different data sources. Emerging Semantic Web technologies, such ...
متن کاملMediating Semantic Web Service Access using the Semantic Firewall
As the technical infrastructure to support Grid environments matures, attention should focus on providing dynamic access to services, whilst ensuring such access is appropriately monitored and secured. Access policies may be dynamic, whereby intra-organisational workflows define local knowledge that could be used to establish appropriate credentials necessary to access the desired service. We d...
